Life in Laredo

Originally posted on September 25, 2006 - Monday

Okay, I made it back. Maybe some of you didn't know or didn't care, but I was in south Texas the last two weeks. I went for Operation Sovereignty. We worked the border mostly between Eagle Pass and Laredo. You can read about it at Minutemanproject.com or txminuteman.org. It's a two month long border watch in the most dangerous part of our southern border that kicked off Sept. 11th.
The point I would like to stress the most is I AM SURE GLAD I MADE IT BACK! We have no idea how good we have it! I thought I knew everything about the border being from Southern CA and being a Minuteman and working the border in CA and AZ as much as I have. Texas is not the most friendly of environments. Not only are you up against the most dangerous of drug smugglers, the elements and terrain are not that easy to deal with. We were greeted by the masses of mosquitoes of course, along with all the other friendly bugs that loved me and the regular stuff like snakes, scorpions, coyotes, deer, javelina, bears, mountain lions....although I don't remember seeing any mountains in the 3000 miles of Texas I just drove through...
This event definitely separated the men from the boys. I'm not sure which category I'm in, but I outlasted them all. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment....maybe the handful patriots that could withstand the pain were worth it...?
Yes, they were! I had the pleasure of meeting and working with wonderful patriots from CA to FL to Missouri, Penn, NY, TX and everywhere in between. It was so nice to see so many like minded individuals come together for the cause. Let'
s face it, this country IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR! In fact, all of the Minuteman functions I have been to have been filled with a beautiful patriotic spirit. Always positive, hard-working and self-sacrificing, these patriots from across the country know what dedication is and know what it takes to get the job done. Here, there is no time for whining or complaining, we have a country to protect. We are not sitting around drinking beer getting a massage and talking about all the things wrong with this country, we are tirelessly working to improve it. We are using our precious time and hard earned money, sacrificing our family and comforts of home, sweating mercilessly under the sweltering hot sun giving up the basic essentials for the good of our nation. What will it take to wake the politicians up? Why aren't they listening to the citizens? Why do we have to pay to get the job done twice??? I think it's sickening that in 2006 we need single mothers like me to put our lives on hold and in harms way to do the job our president (I voted for twice) won't do! As far as I can see, Jorge Bush is the only American that won't do jobs he says all Americans won't do...
Anyway, I'm home, I'm safe, I have a computer, a radio, TV, my children, my family, friends, animals, my wonderful church and gifted pastor, a shower and clean clothes, a toilet, etc....even the traffic is a blessing! It was an eye-opening experience I highly recommend it for the people who think our sovereignty might be in danger! I urge you to get informed on the TRUTH about open borders, not what the pansy media gets paid to portray! That is not what's really going on! I know for all of you who know me well, I would not give up my entire life if this wasn't necessary! I can guarantee that if you have seen what I have seen, you would be right here next to me donating and giving all your free time to this cause too! There are so many things to do that are less strenuous and time consuming as going away to watch the border! Okay, I know most of you are sick of me griping and begging for help, but this is SERIOUS!!!!!
I don't know about you, but I love my GOD, my FAMILY and my COUNTRY. My beautiful children are worth fighting for!
We're very close to losing all of that in our lifetime if we do not get off our butts and let the general public know the truth! Election day is approaching and we need to educate ourselves on who we are voting for! Protecting our borders is of utmost importance! How can we justify sending our men and women out to die protecting other nations borders all the while leaving our wide open? All of the million plus illegal aliens entering our country every year are not "just nice people looking for a better life!" I want a better life too, but I don't break laws to get there!
Okay, done rambling for now! I sure am glad to be home and grateful that I was able to serve my country in that capacity. I will continue to do so until the job is done. It was a struggle, not for the faint of heart, but our country is worth it! Not much of a sacrifice if you think about what the millions of men and women who have and are still sacrificing their lives everyday for our freedom. We've really got it pretty easy now, let's join the fight while we still have something to protect!
Thanks for listening
and God Bless!
Christie
