the REAL reason I have my job

I cannot believe I stayed up this late to write all I had written only for it to disappear....I have two choices.....stay up all night and re-write, or go to bed and re-write the story over and over in my mind tossing and turning until the alarm goes off.....did that really all just disappear?!?!

Alrighty, here goes.....

So, getting back to this.....I'm actually glad the whole thing mysteriously disappeared!  I was a little angry.....still in a bit of shock, but much more calm about it.....so here goes.  I have the position I have today strictly because I am white.  It has nothing to do with my 20 years experience in the business.  It has nothing to do with the fact that I have owned and operated three related successful businesses.  I had nothing to do with my talent and creativity.  It's because, or so my Mexican co-worker told me, I AM WHITE!  Interesting.  I was also told that we whites don't and won't do certain types of work!  Another interesting point.  One of the types of work he mentioned I was actually completing in front of his very eyes as he was saying this.  I just smiled....I wasn't able to defend myself being his manager so I decided I could vent here....

I remember being pregnant and raising an infant and cleaning apartments scrubbing fecal matter off of walls.  I remember working my night job and laying tile all day long to make ends meet on my severly injured knees.  I've painted, scrubbed, pikked mistle toe and sold it, washed dishes and cleaned for minimum wage and even less in some cases.....what the hay?  I needed the work.  I never said that this particular job is beneath me because I am white!  I did what I had to do.  When the state said I was making too much money and couldn't get help (medical insurance for me and my children) I tended bar, I've cooked in really hot kitchens, bussed tables, etc.  I've started several small businesses.....All the while, paying taxes so that he and his family could drive a brand new car with several thousand dollar rims.  They all have medical insurance and don't even speak the language.  She gets to stay home with the kids and I get to pay for it.  I also get to pay for their education .....if they wanted it, but they don't!  Like so many hand-out opportunities for the so-called less fortunate!  I work twice as hard to pay them and I can't get any help from my own country because I am white.  yup, it's just sooooo easy for us white people, isn't it?  All I have to do is walk into a place and tell them that I am going to be the manager because I can't do the hard work, like the cooking, washing dishes and scrubbing.  I wash more dishes than my minimum wage emplyees do.  He also said that white people don't cook.  Interesting.  All the cooks in the restaurant I owned in Utah were white.  And believe it or not, they even did dishes and scrubbed floors!  Weird, huh?  Okay, getting angry again, must take a break!

An RE:

Thank you.  And I applaud you for being smart enough to seperate you, a hard working Mexican-American from the uneducated illegals and the greedy politicians staging the show.  I grew up here in Chula Vista, graduated from high school here, went to SWC.  I'm anything BUT racist!  My family were immigrants too!  All of our ancestors of every American citizen you know are descendants of immigrants!  Everyone in the world wants to come to this country because it is the greatest!  Well, no problem, come in, but do it the right way!  The US makes room for 300,000 legal immigrants every year.  This number does not include the work and student visa entries.  If we grant amnesty AGAIN and they bring all of their families that would equal in excess of 200 % of the regular yearly ammount.  Now I'm not saying in any way shape or form that I blame the illegals.  Not at all, I would probably do the same thing if I lived in a country with such a corrupt government.  All the riches they keep for themselves....anyway, another post, but how the heck did I get going on this.  Never mind.  I just don't see anything wrong with doing it the right way.  I don't see why they should have more rights than the people from Russia, Greece, Poland, Germany, etc....that are standing in line the legal way and learning the language.  I've always had an extremely diverse group of friends.  That's what's great about living here!  I wouldn't want it any other way.  But don't put me in a catergory saying that I REFUSE to do certain types of work because of my color!  That was the most insulting thing I had ever heard!  FOr gosh sakes!  I'm just a manager/baker of a small deli here in Chula Vista!  Is my position really that mush better than anyone else's?   LOL  Enough rambling for now....
